1. If you see someone strolling around looking extra sharp in a pair of wood finished sunnies, chances are they are made by Shwood. The Portland-based company has become a premier brand in the sunglasses market due to their iconic wood-finished shades.

Shwood’s new release The Bushmills are an eye-catching collaboration with Boston fashion entrepreneurs Bodega and Bushmills Irish Whisky. What could whisky possibly have to do with these sunnies? Absolutely everything.
The wood used in this classic canby frame comes from genuine vintage white-oak Bushmills barrels, that were actually used to age their whiskies. That in itself is cool enough, but they took the whisky gimmick one step further, and finished the glasses in a rich whisky-based wax. The only drawback to this impressive whisky finish, is that your friends may lick your face for free alcohol.

As always, with something so unique and innovative, a very limited number of pairs were released; 100 worldwide. If you are lucky enough to get your hands on a pair, you’ll be pleasantly surprised when the package arrives at the door, before you even open it.
The sunglasses are packaged in a very appropriate custom made wooden box, complimented with a mini crowbar to help you unleash the wooden-whisky treasure inside. If the whole idea of whisky sunnies tickles your fancy, be prepared to pay a fortune. Alternatively, if funds are low, just buy some regular Shwood’s and soak them in a bucket of whisky. On the upside, you have a bucket of whisky to finish afterwards. (SOURCE)
  2. All you gaming nerds out there, you may have to look away, you may just wet yourself a little bit. This custom made 6x6x6 inch touch activated lamp, transforms your room straight into a level out of Super Mario Brothers, and the aesthetics of it are just the beginning.  This genius production by 8BitLit has not only incorporated the look of a Super Mario question mark block, but also the sound. That's right, every time you touch (or punch) the lamp on, it rewards you with the classic coin "ding" sound, but it doesn't end there. If you are feeling tired or run down at night, do not fear, because every eighth time you punch (or touch) the lamp on, it rewards you with a 1-UP (1 extra life). The lamp is made from laser-cut plexiglass and uses energy efficient LED lights.  It comes attached to an 11 foot power cord, but can be used as a bedside lamp with the additional purchase of a custom acrylic stand. If you are looking to spice up your abode without worrying about impressing the ladies, this lamp is definitely for you.  (SOURCE)

  3. Watches are becoming increasingly technologically advanced to try and stay ahead of the times (no pun intended) and be that one unique watch in your collection.  This watch however, has gone the opposite way, and combines the very old process of wax sealing, with a stainless steal case and watch mechanisms.  The face of the watch is made entirely of wax, using a hot press and a seal, similar to that on a fancy wedding invitation.  This isn't the only fun feature of the watch however.  You can also mix and match the colours of the band, case, wax face and hands on the 'Be Optimistic and Thankful' (BOAT) website, to create your entirely personalised wax seal watch.  All the watches are assembled by hand and checked individually to ensure optimum quality.  The uniqueness, choice of customisation and very reasonable price tag, make this a must-have watch in any ones collection.  (SOURCE)

    RRP - $85 USD

  4. Remixes can bring an exciting new dimension to a song, or bury it further in the ground than your parents first cat that is under the backyard tree.  This is not just a list of top ten remixes, rather a list of ten remixes you probably don't have on your i-Tunes, that you definitely should.  These songs range from the chilled-out re-vamp of Radiohead's 'Little by Little' to the energy enhanced spin-off of Cassius' 'I Love You So' .  So watch, listen, enjoy, and get downloading! (legally of course).

  5. NEW MUSIC

It is becoming increasingly difficult to find good unique music these days (emphasis on the good).  You don't have to look far to find uniquely bad music (credit to Will.I.Am and Miss Spears).

Every now and again however, you do find a song that you just can't stop yourself tapping your feet, moving your shoulders or bopping your head to.  Personally I'm a loose head bopper to the likes of a dog head bobbler in a car driving through the hills.  But enough about me...

This track 'Blurred Lines' by Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell and T.I. can be summed up perfectly in one simple word; funky. Actually maybe two words, funky and cool.  Funky for the actual music, and just so dam cool for the video clip. I may be slightly biased due to the fact that I am a guy, and the video clip is of absolutely stunning girls topless, frolicking around.  But hey, watch it for yourself and tell me it isn't cool.  Thicke gives the odd creepy eyes, Pharrell somehow still looks cool wearing his shiny space suit, and T.I. just dances like he is in his own world.

The uncensored version is deemed too graphic to be on youtube, something about boobs not being good viewing.  So if you want to watch the uncensored version (which I highly recommend) click HERE.

    Anyway enough talking/writing, just watch.

  6. Berlin-based retail geniuses 'Solebox' are celebrating their tenth anniversary in 2012 and with it, comes a line of sneakers that are bound to impress.  This colab is a follow up from Solebox's Omni Zone Pumps of 2011, introducing a new predominantly black colour-way with vibrant green and grey accents.  Like last years version, these shoes feature LED lights in the side panels, this time glowing bright green, which are certain to light up any room you enter.  Luckily, if you are sneaking around like a ninja trying not to be seen, there is an off switch.  You are probably thinking that shoes that light up are tacky and should be left in the 90's.  However one look at these works of art, and you will see that Solebox once again, has managed to make LED shoes look so fresh, you will need to keep them in the refrigerator.  These black and green monsters are set to drop in limited numbers, exclusively to Solebox in mid-April.  (SOURCE)

  7. Ronnie Fieg has teamed up with Asics once again to produce what is becoming a legacy of collaborations between the two sneaker masterminds.  This time the Gel Saga gets a tune up with the creation of the 'Neptune' using a brilliantly contrasting combination of electric blue outsole, laces and stripes, with a tonal grey upper and emerald midsole. These works of art demand attention without over stating themselves, and are sure to be snapped up quickly through the exclusive online supplier KITH.  The release date is set to be August 3rd, however there was a limited 'Kithstrike' release on the KITH website as a teaser for the real thing.  My advice is have your bank account stocked and the refresh button on standby, because like all the Ronnie Fieg x Asics collaborations, these will sell out in a matter of seconds.

  8. What better way to waste time than to take a look at a good old fashion top 10 list, and in this case, a top 10 list about sneakers.  This list takes a look at ten of the best ASICS releases of 2011/2012, and all ten do not disappoint.  Sneaker mastermind 'Ronnie Fieg' and Berlin fashion giants 'Solebox' feature heavily in the list with many of their ASICS collaborations.  Enjoy filtering through these classic renditions and remakes, because a few of these shoes will cost you an arm and a leg, and some you cannot even find if you tried.

  9. Easily the most influential piece of mobile phone technology in history is apple's iconic 'i-phone'.  However, when you order that brand new i-phone from the store, or online, you are faced with only one aesthetic choice; black or white? Hence the increase in the range of i-phone cases by the thousands, ranging from rubber, wood or even leather.  Sure, the cases decrease the chance of the screen breaking, but more importantly they give your i-phone that little bit of personality that separates it from all it’s other brothers and sisters.  Cases however, are still just boring cases, independent of what colour or material they are made from. Now, there is an alternative in i-phone customisation that is so cool, even that scenie guy at uni won't have.  RF Laserworks have released a heat-sensitive i-phone backing that changes in colour from black to bright green, as you apply more heat through contact.  This self-adhesive backing is a super-slim 1 millimetre thick, and responds to temperature changes between 32-35 degrees celsius (just below body temperature). The option is available to purchase a solid version or one with an apple logo cut-out. Both versions can be purchased online for a very affordable $12 USD. So if you want to stand out, or even just want the chance to try a cheesy pick-up line when that certain girl holds your phone, then this i-phone accessory is for you. (SOURCE)

    RRP - $12 USD

If you consider yourself too 'cool' for the heat sensitive backing, RF Laserworks also offer a range of different styles ranging from wood, different coloured sand paper and even cork.

  10. The Gorillaz have teamed up with Andre 3000 and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, for their new track 'DoYaThing'. The song takes a bit of a detour from the soothing sounds of 'Plastic Beach', and gets in touch with the Gorillaz earlier work, with a funky, techno beat. The music video (heavily collaborated in conjunction with Converse) features the gang in an apartment in the U.K., hungover after a big night, and boy is it weird.  Enjoy.
